The Chief Judicial Magistrate, Nagaon had sentenced Sri Banwarilal Jalan, the owner of Assam Oil & Atta Mill situated at Haiborgaon, Nagaon to suffer six months rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs.1000/- for manufacturing as well as selling adulterated Mustard Oil for human consumption. It is to mention that Food Inspector caught the adulteration red-handed at night recently. He also seized a huge quantity of Mustard Oil and sent samples of it for chemical analysis. As per the analysis report, he filed a case, Cr.3531/08 against the Mill owner under the provisions of the Prevention of Food Adualteration Act, 1954.
Similarly, Sri Sanjoy Baruah, Food Inspector, filed a case, Cr. 239/07 against Sri Amar Dutta, the owner of Hotel Nikita, Amoni some 25 kms from Nagaon for selling food-items prepared by using adulterated Soya Refined Oil. Accordingly, the Sub-divisional Judicial Magistrate, Kaliabor sentenced Sri Amar Dutta to undergo six months rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs.1000/-.
