While the current government in Bangladesh is continuously claiming to be opposing Islamists and combating jihad, the supreme leadership of the present government has been enthusiastically pushing the false case of sedition, treason and blasphemy, which was brought against award-winning Muslim Zionist editor Salah Uddin Shoaib Choudhury, with the agenda of sentencing him with death penalty or life-term imprisonment with the goal of appeasing the Islamists and jihadists. Choudhury is the editor of Times of Assam(India) and Weekly Blitz(Bangladesh), which opposes anti-Semitism and strongly advocates establishment of relations between Israel and Bangladesh. Salah Uddin Shoaib Choudhury was arrested on November 29, 2003 on his way to Tel Aviv for attending a peace conference. The United States Congress passed a bi-partisan bill in 2006 demanding immediate dropping of the false charges and not to harass the courageous Bangladeshi journalist. Shoaib Choudhury who was tortured in prison and released after 17 months at the relentless effort of Dr. Richard Benkin at the help of US Congressman Mark Steven Kirk, Nita Lowey, Peter King, Steve Rothman, Steve Chobot and others. Bangladeshi government had been making false commitments to the US administration for dropping of the false charges against Salah Uddin Shoaib Choudhury since 2005, but till date, instead of keeping such promise, the current government in Dhaka has reportedly signaled the judge at Metropolitan Session Judge’s Court in Dhaka to accord capital punishment to this Bangladeshi journalist for his critical writings against jihad and anti-Semitism.

Shoaib Choudhury was produced at the court on 6th of October as well as on 13th of October, while he is scheduled to be brought to court on October 27 to face the trial. Sources inside the court indicated that the government has instructed the judge to complete the trial process by the middle of November and either give death sentence or life term imprisonment to Salah Uddin Shoaib Choudhury. The Bangladeshi authorities have also accused the courageous Muslim journalist as an Israeli spy. On October 13, 2013 when Salah Uddin Shoaib Choudhury was brought to the court, a prosecution lawyer of the government, Mosharraf Hossain Kajol reportedly told Choudhury that the government has already decided to accord him stern punishment. Mr. Kajol told Choudhury, “You are badly trapped. Why did you support the enemy state of Israel and the Jewish bastards? You deserve to be given capital punishment for betraying with Islam”

The lawyer of Salah Uddin Shoaib Choudhury, Advocate Govinda Chandra Pramanik has been abstaining from defending Choudhury at the verbal instruction of the influential quarter of the government.

It may be mentioned here that the European Union, British High Commission and Canadian High Commission in Bangladesh had been closely monitoring the trial of Salah Uddin Shoaib Choudhury while the US Embassy in Dhaka has stopped monitoring the trial since Barack Obama came in power. It may be further mentioned here that, Dr. Richard Benkin made repeated requests to Barack Obama when he was the Senator of Illinois state to defend Salah Uddin Shoaib Choudhury but Obama refused to defend Choudhury while most of the members of the US Congress, both from Republican and Democrats strongly raised voice in favor of Choudhury.

Salah Uddin Shoaib Choudhury is the first Muslim journalist who started writing about the rise of militant Islam inside the madrassas and because of his relentless and extremely courageous writings, Islamist groups such as Hizbut Tahrir and Hizbut Towhid had been banned in Bangladesh.

Salah Uddin Shoaib Choudhury’s matter came prominently in the international media while the New York Times in 2003 December in its editorial titled “Risk of journalism” termed Choudhury as a man of rare virtue. Other international newspapers such as Wall Street Journal, New York Sun, Chicago Tribune, Washington Times, Guardian, Berliner Zeitung etc published numerous editorials and opeds in favor of Shoaib Choudhury. International organizations such as American Jewish Committee, Reporters without Border, Committee to protect journalists, PEN, Hudson Institute, United States Commission For International Religion Freedom etc came forward in helping this Muslim Zionist editor.

Unfortunately, Salah Uddin Shoaib Choudhury had been falsely accused in a case lodged by a Bangladeshi individual, who is infamous to be connected with Islamists and Jihadists and Choudhury was arrested on 8th November 2012 from his residence at the late hours of the night. After his arrest, the agents of jihadists attempted to make Salah Uddin Shoaib Choudhury a victim of extra-judicial murder with the help of Rapid Action Battalion. With this nefarious target, Choudhury was taken at the Headquarters of RAB-1 secretly while his life was saved at the strong opposition of some of the anti-jihadist members of the elite force. But the agents of Islamists and jihadist had been strongly obstructing release of Salah Uddin Shoaib Choudhury from the prison on bail. He is regularly harassed and mentally tortured inside Dhaka Central Jail by authorities at the instigation of the agents of the Islamists and Jihadists.

While the world media is putting focus on the case of Malala Yusufzai, the courageous anti-taliban Muslim girl, the case of Salah Uddin Shoaib Choudhury is sadly missing the attention of the international media now while this courageous Muslim Zionist editor is languishing at Dhaka Central Jail and going to get capital punishment of death sentence or life-term imprisonment by the motivated Bangladeshi court at any time.

Anti-Jihadist forces and media in the world should immediately speak-out in favor of Salah Uddin Shoaib Choudhury to save the life of the courageous journalist.
