1500 scholarships for poor meritorious Indian students, announces Chicago based foundation
North South Foundation based in Chicago, USA has announced the decision to award 1500 scholarships for needy students in India for the current academic year. Out of these 900 scholarships will be renewals and 600 scholarships are for first year students.
These scholarships are available for students pursuing professional courses such as Engineering, Medicine, Dentistry, Veterinary Science, Pharmacy, Agriculture or Nursing.
Scholarships of up to Rs 12,000 per year are awarded to Degree students and up to Rs 5,000 per year are given to Diploma students. To be eligible for NSF scholarship the student must have scored within the top 10% at the state or central board examinations or the common admission tests. Annual family income of the student must not exceed Rs 40,000 in rural areas or Rs 60,000 in urban areas.
Application forms can be downloaded from their website www.northsouth.org and forms can also be filled in online. It has been stated that the last date to submit the applications is September 30, 2011.
Scholarships are administered by NSF India chapter coordinators in various cities. Currently NSF chapters are active in Hyderabad, Tanuku, Visakhapatnam, Guwahati, Patna, Bangalore, Kochi, Pune, Bhubaneswar, Patiala, Udaipur, Jodhpur, Chennai, Madurai, Nagercoil, Moradabad, Kolkata, Panchkula, Bhavnagar and Chandigarh
Applications with supporting documents must be mailed to the nearest chapter coordinator or to the Hyderabad main office where there are no NSF chapters within the state. Selected students will be called for an interview to determine the eligibility for the scholarship.
North South Foundation was established in 1989 by Dr. Ratnam Chitturi to promote educational excellence among NRI children in the USA and to award scholarships to meritorious children from needy families in India.
I am a poor student of Master of Physical Education (two years course). My family income is Rs. 50000 per year. Is it possible to give me information regarding any financial help that I can get to complete my study within two years?
