Bodo National Convention get underway

The two-day Bodo National Convention which aims to unify the Bodo organizations and work for peace, brotherhood, stability and development in the Bodo belts unitedly get under way today at Bodofa Nwgwr in Kokrajhar. 31 Bodo organistions from diferent partsof the country and outside aer participating in the convetion to work out on theunification move to unite the community leaders. Other issues including on separate state of Bodoland will be discussed during the programme. A united forum is also likely to be formed to raise voice uniteldy on dieffernt issues related to the community when needed.

The All Bodo Students Union (ABSU) and Bodoland People’s Progressive Front (BPPF) however remain out of the convention putting questions marks in the mind of the people, especially the Bodoland region. The two organizations however extend their full supports from outside for the success of the convention which they believe will pave way in unity of the Bodos. The public in Bodoland region are optimist of a good outcome out of the 2 day convention hoping of a peaceful atmosphere in the region which saw lot of bloodshed in recent years in the fratricidal clashes among the Bodo brothers. 

 The Bodo National Convention came after 25 Bodo organizations came together at Barama on September 10 last with the sole aim of unification and work out ways and means to bring unity, peace and development in the Bodo belts which saw lots of bloodshed and killing among the Bodo brothers in the last couple of years. The organizations since than has held three round of meeting working the move.
