Netaji kin not allowed speaking at Azad Hind memorial function

The Azad Hind Haqoomat Day function, organized by the Netaji Subash Chandra Bose INA Trust took place as a day long function at ITA-Centre for Performing Arts at Machkhowa in Guwahati yesterday. However the event seemed more of a political event instead of a strong social one, which it should have been as it involved one of the greatest Indians of all times, Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose.
The event was attended by Assam Governor JB Patnaik, Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi, DoNER Minister Pabon Singh Ghatowar, MP Bijoya Chakraborty, Union Minister of State Agatha Sangma, Assam Education Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Assam Forest Minister Rakibul Hussain, former Lok Sabha Speaker PA Sangma, INA functionary Umsesh Chandra Devchoudhury, INA Trust chairman KP Singh Deo and several others.
Various speakers were found giving symbolic speeches. It was amusing to see the MPs and Ministers of Congress to giving loud speeches on great Netaji, as the Congress party earlier was very much opposed to Netaji’s notions. In fact members of the Congress earlier were reluctant to even see the picture of Netaji. However the two faced mentality of political motives came to light when at the end it was realized that Netaji’s nephew Subrata Chandra Bose and niece Sheila Sengupta, who had travelled all the way to Guwahati were, surprisingly, not allowed to speak at all on the occasion.
After the meetings ended, INA functionary Umsesh Chandra Devchoudhury stated to reporters that “the whole purpose of the function has been politically hijacked”.
