Nine smugglers, poachers arrested in Kokrajhar

The forest department of Kokrajhar on Wednesday late evening busted an illegal timber smugglers and coachers camp at Dholpani block, deep inside the Ultapani forest range core area under Haltugaon Forest division in Ripu-Chirang Elephant Reserve in the district bordering Bhutan . Nine timber smugglers and poachers were also arrested and recovered one country made guns, sawpits, 9 bi-cycles and various valuable woods from them. Forest official said the departments of Ultapani Range under Haltugaon division led by its Ranger Dhirendra Nath Basumatary were on regular patrolling deep in the forest when they came across the makeshift camp and later managed to arrest nine persons.  The arrested were identified as Kusung Basumatary, Bishnu Wary, Pachuram Basumatary, Rajesh Daimary, Halang Narzary, Rijon Narzary, Tengana Narzary, Rosen Narzary and Sanju Narzary.
