One ULFA killed at Kokrajhar

One ULFA cadre, beolng to 709 Battalion of the organizatio, has been killed by the joint operation team of police and army in an encounter at Bijilibari near Ontaigwlao under Kokrajhar police station today early morning. The ULFA cadre was identified as Maheshwar Ray alias Chatu alias Manjit of village Majpara of Kokrajhar.
The police recovered one 9 mm pistol, 4 live bullets, three empty cartridges, six live and three empty cartridges of AK- series and one magazine of AK-47. The police displayed the arms and ammunitions recovered from the slain ULFA cadre.
The father of the ULFA cadre, Robilachan Ray, who is also the President of Deborgaon Primary BPF told the media persons that his son joined the ULFA in 1998 and he did not come home since joining the outfit. Robilachan alleged that his son was reportedly picked up by the security forces from Laltari under the same PS from the house of one Longkeswar Barman at about 9 pm on Saturday. He also said that the encounter of the security forces with his son at Bijilibari is surprise and expressed doubt that it could be a fake encounter. The elder sister of slain ULFA militant Ms Bhumika Ray also stated the same.
