President’s Rule imposed in Manipur
Manipur has been placed under President's Rule after the BJP failed to name a successor following the resignation of N Biren Singh as the Chief Minister.
The Centre announced on Thursday that Manipur has come under President’s control and that the state assembly is placed under suspended animation, four days after N Biren Singh quit as chief minister.
A security plan was created prior to the imposition of the president’s rule, and state police and intelligence services kept an eye on specific people’s whereabouts to avoid any unfortunate events.
Following a report from Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla, the president made his decision just hours after the two houses of parliament adjourned to reconvene on March 10 for the remaining Budget session.
