Several FIR lodged against Subramanian Swamy in Assam

Several FIR were lodged on Saturday, March 14, 2015 – when BJP leader Subramanian Swamy said in Guwahati – that mosque is not a religious place but is just a building that can be demolished any time.

Subramanian Swamy – known for most controversial, rubbish and foolish remarks – said, “A mosque is not a religious place. It is just a building. It can be demolished any time.”

The BJP leader then went on to claim that all Indian Muslims were Hindus.

Earlier on Friday, March 13, 2015 – the same Subramanian Swamy commented, “Assamese people should stay crying and sit back at home. There is no point to disagree with the land swap to Bangladesh done by current BJP government”.

Soon after Swamy’s remark on mosque, several FIR have been lodged against him. Protesting Swamy’s comments – a number of organisations including All Assam Student Union(AASU), AJYCP, KMSS etc – burnt the effigies of the BJP national executive member. The police also registered an FIR under IPC sections 120(B) i.e. common criminal conspiracy and 153 (A) i.e. promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion against Swamy following a complaint by Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS).

Akhil Gogoi – the KMSS president said, “Ahead of Assembly elections, the BJP is trying to create communal disturbance in the state. The controversial statement made by Swamy against Muslims is part of this conspiracy. We condemn it and demand Assam government to ban the entry of Subramanian Swamy into the state.”

Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi also slammed Swamy and his party. Gogoi said, “BJP will have to pay a heavy price for hurting Assamese sentiments”.

Assam State BJP have informed that they have collected the video clip of Swamy’s statement and they will raise the issue over the party’s executive meeting. But, the state BJP leaders failed to control the rubbish and foolish remarks of Swamy.

  1. Swami’ Remarks on religion is highly condemnable,India being a secular country can not venture to discriminate against any religious group- be it Hindu or Muslim or others. Already India has been carrying a bad name in the name of religious intolerance.Swami’ utterances are really nonsense and fuel in creating a communal hatred only.
