TWO NDFB (R) CADRES SURRENDER IN SONITPUR
The relentless operations by the security forces has led to the neutralisation and apprehension of a large number of Senior Leaders and Cadres of various terrorist organisations in Assam. The efforts of the security forces received a boost when two NDFB cadres of Ranjan Daimary group laid down their arms on 13 Aug 10 at Thakurbari military garrison with the view to return to the main stream.
The Cadres belonging to the NDFB’s 3rd Battalion confirmed that post the recent arrest & neutralisation of Senior Leaders and Cadres of the faction, there was a discernible unrest and confusion amongst the grassroot level cadres of the banned outfit. Self styled Lance Corporal Jitendra Deory alias Taklu alias Jamai Raja, age 30 years of vill Naktipur of Baksa district joined the organization in 2006 and has been involved in extortion activities and Umendra Boro, age 18 years of vill Bamun Diwtary, PS Mukalmua of Nalbari district joined the NDFB in 2008 surrendered to army alongwith two AK-56 rifles, 2 magazine and 15 live bullets. Brigadier C E Fernandes, presided over the ‘Adar neeye Sabha’ and welcomed them to the main stream. The Brigadier congratulated the surrendered cadres for their bold and wise decision to join the mainstream. He said that the return of large number of cadres to the mainstream was an indicator that efforts of the security forces and district administration was paying dividends. He emphasized the commitment of Gajraj Corps and all government agencies towards the rehabilitation of misguided youths so that they could earn their livelihood with respect. He said that he was optimistic that more such youth who had gone astray would come forward to join the mainstream in the near future.
