Anantnag encounter update : Militants will be neutralised shortly
In Kashmir’s Kokernag area of Breng Valley, Anantnag district, the Indian Army is engaged in combat with militants. On Saturday, September 16, the encounter with militants in Kokernag is continuing for the fourth day. The Indian Army has surrounded the hills in the Kokernag jungles where sources claimed that 2 to 3 terrorists are hiding. They are being assaulted with rocket launchers and other powerful weaponry in an effort to quickly finish the operation. To eliminate the militants, the Indian Army is using drones to blast the mountains.
In the encounter on September 13, a total of three braveheart officers of the Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police lost their lives during the incident. These included DSP Humayun Muzammil Bhatt, Major Ashish Dhanok, and Colonel Manpreet Singh, Commanding Officer of the 19 Rashtriya Rifles. The operation also resulted in the martyrdom of one soldier.
According to army source, the operation will soon come to the end because the terrorists have run out of ammo and have only been able to hide from the security forces by hiding in a high geographical area. All sides of the encounter area have been sealed off, and civilians aren’t allowed to move in that direction at all. During the meeting, numerous have heard the sound of explosions.
The ADGP for Kashmir provided an update on this operation. He noted that the operation was being carried out based on a specific input on X. 2-3 militants are being surrounded and will be neutralised shortly.
