Assamese version of Baharistan-E-Gayabi released

 Assam governor Janakai Ballav Patnaik formally released the Assamese version of the historical book ‘Baharistan-E-Gayabi’ on thursday  on the occasion of the 111th birthday of the former president of Asom Sahitya Sabha and the first doctorate of the greater Assam Dr. Moidul Islam Bora in a function held at Sivasagar natya mandir under the aegis of Arunudai Sahitya Sabha.

Speaking on the occasion the governor said that the ‘Baharistan-E-Gayabi’  is a valuable contribution particularly to the history of Assam during the Mughal period and it can contribute to the field of historical researches.

The ‘Baharistan-E-Gayabi’ is a history of Assam, Koch Bihar, Bengal, Bihar and Orissa during the reign of great mughal emperors Jahangir and Shahjahan written in the barks of sanchi tree in persian language by mughal army general Mirza Nathan alias Allauddin Issani. This book was recovered and translated into english by Dr. Moidul Islam Bora, former Head of the department of Persian and Urdu and vice-chancellor in-charge, University of Dacca . The translation work is regarded as one of the masterpieces of Bora’s literary activities.

This book has been translated into Assamese by renowned litterateur Sayed Fatehul Mannan, Sonaram Baruah and Dr. Krishna Kumar Mishra. Assam valley literary awardee Kathasilpi Imran Shah is the President of the editorial board of the Assamese version of the book.
