Binita Devi awarded all India Junior Fellowship from the Ministry of Culture

The string that set into motion the art of puppetry – a dying art form- is all set to get some youthful energy.

Binita Devi, the city-based puppet artist, has recently won a junior fellowship award from Ministry of Culture, New Delhi on the basis of Magnetic Puppetry. Moreover, her research works have been published in a few International, National as well as Regional journals to provide awareness about the vanishing art Puppetry.

She has performed various shows on puppetry using modern techniques to bring interest among the new generation.

She is the Principal of the well established cultural institution Surojit Academy situated at Jalukbari, Guwahati. She also teaches the art of puppetry as a mentor to her students.

Presently, she has been working on her research project on Magnetic Puppet under Assam Science Technology and Environment Council.

Binita Devi is the wife of Simanta Sarma who is the HoD of Computer Science in Sualkuchi Budaram Madhav Satradhikar College, Sualkuchi.
