Modi & BJP must study history of Lachit Borphukan
Many Assamese particularly those who have been supporting BJP and Narendra Modi, shared a post in Facebook and Twitter on Tuesday, where Modi extended his greetings on the occasion of Lachit Divas.
Everything was fine. However, the so-called-patriotic Assamese for their love for Modi forgot for the time being, that Lachit Divas is observed every year on November 24 to commemorate the Battle of Saraighat. It is unfortunate for every Assamese, that though the Prime Minister extended his greetings on an auspicious day of the State, the Prime Minister distorted history.
On his birth anniversary, I salute Lachit Borphukan. He is India’s pride & his valour during Saraighat war can never be forgotten.

Another shocker of the day was the fact that Hindu Yuva Chatra Parishad invited dome unknown people along with controversial BJP MP Yogi Adityanath to address the public on the occasion of Lachit Divas. However, it needs no mentioning that Yogi Adityanath is totally unaware of Bir Lachit Borphukan.
What the BJP and organisations like the Hindu Yuva Chatra Parishad are trying to project is clear – they want to paint Lachit Borphukan as a Hindu General who fought against the Muslims (Mughals). However, what they are unaware off is the fact that Lachit Borpukhan led an army of Assamese and not Hindu or Muslims. His army comprised of Guva, Khasis, Goriya, Moria, Jaintia, Tiwa etc and they all together represented greater Assam.
Without having knowledge even does not know the name of Assamese veer telling unethicall things in a open space will make bad impact in coming election.Communal comments is not tollerarted spcially in Assam.
Goverment must see this type of situation will never happen in Assam.Assam is for all Religions.
Thanks that TOA has paid heed to this nuisance which the so-called mainstream media measurably failed to.
