One ULFA Cadre Surrenders at Sivasagar

One ULFA cadre named Akhil Changmai alias Rupjyoti Changmai of 28 battalion, surrenders with one Chinese AK Assault Rifle AKM-22 with 3 Magazines & 68 Live bullets, before Brigadier G S Talwar of 2nd Mountain Artillery Brigade in Sivasagar, today. He claimed himself as the Security personal of Senior Leader of the outfit, Jeeban Moran. Mr Changmai, on his surrender, also stated that he was trained in Papong area based NSCN(K) camp at Myanmar, under Kangkan Gohain. The surrendered cadre also revealed that he joined the outfit in 2002, and trained in 2005. He also stated that in the Myanmar based camps, there are several top leaders including Lt Colonel Jeeban Moran, Captain Antu Chaodang and around 150 cadres are with them.

Meanwhile, the outfit’s top official source denied him as the security personal of Jeeban Moran and said it is no wonder to surrender with latest weapon like AKM-22, as the outfit always using the latest weapons. The source also revealed that the cadre fled from the Myanmar camp last year, so the surrender is totally meaningless.
