Operation against NDFB is definite, says IGP Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta

Assam IGP Law and Order Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta today made whirlwind visit to Kokrajhar to stock of the law and order situation arising out of NDFB terror in different part of the state including Kokrajhar district. Talking to the media Mahanta said that full scale operation is on against NDFB. Counter insurgency operations against anti-talks NDFB militants with the help of army and paramilitary forces jointly in the state will continue.

He said the recent attack by the outfit is done under leadership of some of its top members like B Jwngkang alias John deputy commander of Boroland army, Songbijit army commander, Sagrid, Bidai, Jwmwi and they are actively moving in the state in absence Ranjan Daimary chairman of NDFB who is now in jail. After NDFB Chief Ranjan Daimary has literally lost control over the outfit, some of its have been carrying mayhem in the state. He further said NDFB’s main work is to kill innocent people in the state and making statements.

Referring to the seriousness of the law and order threat in the state by anti-talk NDFB, Mahanta said that they are seeking more forces and trying to deploy across the state and will succeed in this direction. Their main cause of concern is in minority pockets areas in Kokrajhar and police is alert, defensive in minority pockets areas. The most remote and vulnerable pockets were being identified and steps in right direction to protect lives and property of the people and these needs to be fortified. It needs to be done. So we alert to the situation and we are doing best bid for it. He also appealed majority Bodo community to extend helping hand to protect the lives of minority community and restore peace in the region.

Mahanta along with PK Dutta SP, Kokrajhar also visited the incident spot at Daoraighat and Jamguri Chauhanbasti on Thursday and assessed the security situation and expressed his condolence before the deceased family members.

A high level security meeting was held under the chair of IGP Mahanta at Kokrajhar police guest house on Thursday where all police officers posted in the district participated in the meet to chalk out the prevailing law and order situation in western Assam following the NDFB’s killing spree.
