1 UPLA Militant and 1 Police killed in encounter in Karbi Anglong of Assam

One UPLA militant leader and a police constable were killed in an encounter at Hanse Basti in Diphu area of Karbi Anglong district on Monday, June 23, 2014.

The United Peoples Liberation Army(ULPA)’s Diphu Area Commander Rajib Ingleng was killed and constable Gautam Koch seriously injured in an encounter with police in the wee hours, Karbi Anglong’s SP(Superintendent of Police) Mugdha Jyoti Mahanta said.

While the militant was killed on the spot, the constable succumbed to his wounds in Diphu Civil Hospital, he said.

An AK-47 rifle and some ammunition were recovered from the rebel, SP Mahanta also added.
