Chilarai statue and park inaugurated in Kokrajhar

The newly erected park and statue of Biswa Mahbir Chilarai was inaugurated by noted writer and Chilarai award awardee Ambika Charan Choudhury at Basugaon town on Friday in Chirang district.  The programme organized by Organising Committee in connection with celebration of 501st birth anniversary of Biswa Mahabir Chilarai at Basugaon town with a day long colourful programme, Choudhury inaugurated the newly erected statue of Biswa Mahabir Chilarai in presence of president of All Koch Rajbongsi Students Union (AKRSU).  In his speech Choudhury said Mahabir Chilarai was great warrior and freedom fighter belonging Koch Rajbongsi community. He recalled Chilarai’s contribution towards development of society. AKRSU president Biswajit Roy also spoked on the function recalling Bir Chilarai. A culturall rally was also carried out to mark the function at Basugaon town beginning from Chilarai Park and ended at the same place.
