A long view of Peacock Island at dusk, from the deck of a ferry sailing across river Brahmaputra. The island, also called Umananda Island named after the 17th century temple located in it, is known to be the smallest inhabited Riverine Island in the world. The spot is a popular tourist destination in Guwahati, Assam. Thousands of tourists sail to the island as well as to nearby sand-banks and other islands in the mighty river during winter and spring.
