CBI withdrawn their appeal against the bail plea of Raju Barua

The advocate of Central Bureau of Investigation(CBI) have withdrawn their opposition today, against the bail plea of United Liberation Front of Asom(ULFA)’s Deputy Commander-in-Chief, Military Spokesman Major Raju Barua alias Hitesh Kalita, in regard of the murder case of the then Superintendent of Police(SP), Tinsukia District, Ravi Kant Singh in May 18, 1996. Hence the court granted the bail of the ULFA’s second in command of Military wing Raju Barua against the CBI case no 171/05.

It should be mentioned that, in May 18 of 1995,  suspected group of ULFA militants gundown the then Superintendent of Police of Tinsukia district, IPS Ravi Kant Singh, at Barguri area of the district. It is also to be mentioned that in March 16 of 1996, the Military Wing of the United Liberation Front of Asom(ULFA) was reformed in their General Assembly and the then Captain Raju Barua alias Hitesh Kalita was powered as the Operation Commander cum Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the outfit.

After grant of the bail plea today, the final hearing on Raju Barua’s bail will be held on tomorrow. A source of the outfit stated that it is confirmed that Raju Barua will be released on bail tomorrow, October 13. But he will leave jail probably in October 15. The source also stated that, after his release, Raju Barua has the huge responsibility in the regard of the Peace Talk with the Government, as in absence of the Chief of the Staff of the Military wing Colonel Paresh Barua, Raju Barua is the Supremo of the wing. Being the operation commander also of the outfit, he also bears the responsibility to stabilize the violence from the outfit’s side in coming days so that the Peace Talk could be held in a satisfactory circumstances.
