ABMSU stage demonstration in Kokrajhar

 The All Bodoland Minority Students Union (ABMSU) and Kokrajhar, Bongaigaon & Chirang district Muslim Saranarthi committee jointly today stage a two hours sit-in-demonstration in front of Kokrajhar Deputy Commissinoer’s office demanding proper relief and rehabilitation to relief camp inmates and prepare national population register on the basis March 25 of 1971. The students’ union and relief camp committee demanding says that around 5811 families of minority community are living in different 9 nos. relief camps under Kokrajhar, Bongaigaon and Chirang district since 1993-94 due to ethnic violence. The relief camp inmates had to face several troubles and problems in their livelihood. They alleged that the Congress Govt. gave only assurance for implementing problems but little action was not seen in their two terms in power at Dispur. The students union and Relief camp committee threatened Govt. for vigorous movement if the Govt fails to fulfill their demands as earliest. The demands includes provide regular ration supply to relief camp inmates,issue BPL cards to each of Relief ca mp families, solve the problems of D-voters etc. Later the students union and Relief camp committee submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi through Kokrajhar Deputy Commissioner.
