New DGP of Assam to take charge on January 16, 2012

IPS Jayanta Narayan Choudhury, who has been appointed as the new DG of Assam Police would likely to take charge on 16 January, 2012.

Mr. Choudhury, who is an IPS of 1978, was holding the charge of Additional Director of Intelligence Bureau(IB).

Mentionable that, after retirement of former DG of Assam Police Shankar Barua, state administration appointed Jayanta Narayan Choudhury as the new DGP. Additional DG of Home Guards & Civil Defence IPS Rajendra Kumar was given in the charge of DG by Shankar Barua until Jayanta Narayan Choudhury joins.
