India is likely to raise the issue of China aiding several insurgent groups of North East India when the Indian Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh would meet Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao on the sidelines of the ASEAN and East Asia Summit at Bali in Indonesia later this week.
This was indicated by Ministry of External Affairs spokesman, Vishnu Prakash while he was addressing to questions of the media personnel’s in New Delhi yesterday. He also confirmed that such discussions have also been held earlier between the two countries.
The indication from Vishnu Prakash almost reflected New Delhi’s answer to Beijing’s claim that the dispute between India and China over its territories is not going to be solved in near future. It is to be mentioned that the insurgent groups in NE are reported to have become a major external customer of the Chinese Arms & ammunition industry.
Besides insurgency, India is likely to address other issues such as the China’s bid to divert the Brahmaputra River as well as construction of big dams on the river.
