Fake Hacking Hits Media website down

: Guwahati, October 3, 2010

This time claim of being hacked hits down one of 3 major Satellite Channels of the state. Just few minutes before the media house was reported that their website is hacked and it become breaking news for the media itself. After getting their breaking news, Times of Assam technical team checked the recent 11 hours activity of changes in their website and found no change happened in the technical back end processes of the website on it’s server.

Talking to the Deputy Editor of the media, Times of Assam has been reported that their website was getting redirected to another website earlier but now it is under static mode with “Page under Construction” status. While the page redirection activity is nothing but the intentionally done crime by the technical person related with the website. The page redirection can be done only by the particular person who can access the default homepage and can put the redirect code, may be META TAG code or JavaScript/PHP/ASP codes.  Going through more technical investigation, Times of Assam found that the website of the media was designed & maintained by using Content Management Software with PHP-MySQL, and the server was Linux server. So the redirection was either done through using META TAG or using JavaScript or PHP.

Though the website is restored now, Times of Assam still appeals, it’s technical team will catch the culprit if asked for. As the website was hosted in Linux Server, it can be identified with ease what actually happened in the claimed (!) under hacked duration and who did it.
