Sri Lankan Prime Minister DM Jayaratne claiming in the Island Nation’s parliament that the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) is now trying to re-group and running camps in Tamil Nadu of India comes as a blow to India’s otherwise anti-terror face to the world. The Lankan PM had mentioned that they have information about three camps in Tamil Nadu and the opposition of the country supported him as well. Although the Tamil Nadu police authorities were quick to dismiss this as an “Unfortunate” blame, the blame coming from the Lankan PM himself has raised eye brows around the world.
While some sources claims that India might be supporting the outfit getting disturbed with Sri Lanka’s growing relationship with China, as it was with China’s help that Sri Lankan Government was able to destroy the LTTE, the probability of a joint venture between the Maoists and the re-grouping LTTE cannot be denied. It would be interesting to mention that LTTE head Prabhakaran is portrayed in the Tamil state of India as a hero, with his pictures put up for political reasons in walls and hoardings across the state and there cannot be any denial that the outfit enjoys acute sympathy and support from the Tamil State.
On the other hand, speculations across the world is rising as to whether India is doing what Bangladesh has been doing for long with India, -denying bases of militant outfit in its land when actually there were several training camps of different organizations running armed struggles in India like ULFA, NDFB, etc. As reported by Times of Assam earlier with enough proof and evidence, Bangladesh in fact has been providing assistance to Paresh Baruah fraction of the ULFA.
