Dozens of activists of Jatiyatabadi Sangram Parishad (JSP) expressed their protest against the price hike of essential commodities by staging a sit-in-demonstration in front of Deputy Commissioner’s office in Nagaon today. The two hours sit in demonstration was organized by Jatiyatabadi Sangram Parishad (JSP) in which the demonstrators alleged that the wage earners and the urban and rural poor are finding it difficult to provide food for their families and held the government responsible for the present state of affairs. In the press release given to the media, the general secretary of the organization Mridul Saikia stated that “At the end of the demonstration, a memorandum was submitted to the Chief Minister of Assam through the deputy commissioner of Nagaon and urged for the necessary action on their demand. Moreover the organization demanded of the government’s immediate intervention to check the price rise. The organization also alleged about the failure of the state government in providing jobs to the educated youths and demanded for immediate solution on those burning problems of the state and warned that bigger agitations would follow if the government’s response is not adequate.
