Three Hizbul Mujahideen militants and one army personnel were killed in a search and cordon operation launched by the army in Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir today morning.
One civilian and two army jawans are reported to be injured in the encounter.
As reported by PTI, the army launched the operation in the district’s Sirnoo village following intelligence input on the presence of militants in the region. As the army reached the site, the militants started firing and the army too retaliated leading the encounter.
As per the report, one slain militant is identified as Zahoor Ahmad Thokar. Zahoor was in security force before he joined Hizbul Mujahideen a few months back.
As per the report, at least three militants were killed while the encounter is still underway.
An updated report on 10:00 AM confirms the death of the injured civilian. The update also confirmed the death of another two youth in the encounter.
In this year, more than 240 militants have been killed in encounters by the army in Jammu and Kashmir. More than 45 security personnel also killed by the militants in Jammu and Kashmir this year.
