In a press release sent to the media by Paresh Baruah led United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) hardliners, the outfit reiterated its full support to All Assam Students Union (AASU), Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) and Assam Jatiyodabadi Yuva Chatra Parishad (AJYCP) to their movement and agitation against the construction of the mega dam at lower Subansiri.

The ULFA hardliner faction’s publicity chief Arunudoy Dahotiya, sending the press release slammed the Congress MLAs of Dhemaji and North Lakhimpur for being two faced with the issue of Lower Subansiri Mega Dam.

Accusing that the local Congress MLS namely Bhupen Borah and Sumitra Patir as well as chief Minister Tarun Gogoi were just puppets of Delhi rulers, the outfit criticized them for taking stand against the mega-dam before the elections and now completing forgetting about it. The outfit stated that it was just a political ploy of the Congress (I) to have their candidates in Northern Assam (Lakhimpur and Dhemaji) to take temporary stand against the dams before the elections as it was the aspiration of the people. However the same MLAs have now forgot their duties for the people who elected them.

The outfit “reminded” the concerned MLAs to be honest and to be amongst their people standing against the construction of the mega dam, as it is threatening the existence of Assam itself. Through the press release, the outfit also appealed to the people of Assam not to be fooled by false propaganda of political parties who tries to use such sensitive issues only for self-benefit.
