Normal life in Assam was affected today by the Bharat bandh called by the BJP and several other parties, including the opposition Asom Gana Parishad (AGP), to protest the hike in petrol prices. Schools and colleges were closed besides some financial institutions. Government offices reported thin attendance while vehicular traffic was off the road.
With other political parties including the AGP also supporting today’s agitation, normal life was affected, major shops, commercial establishment were closed and the movement of vehicles were hit in different parts of the state spelling trouble for the common man.
