Pro-Talk ULFA leader Heera Saraniya, prime accused in the Dr Phool Chand Ram abduction case, was granted bail by the Court of Additional Sessions’ Judge here on Saturday.
Heera Saraniya was granted bail against two sureties of Rs 50,000 each. Advocate Manash Saraniya appeared on behalf the accused.
The dreaded ULFA leader was charge-sheeted by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in connection with the abduction of Dr Phool Chand Ram, former Executive Director of the Food Corporation of India, who later died in cross firing between the a team of police commando leaded by encounter specialist Jitmal Doley and the abductors in July 11, 2007. In that encounter, two ULFA cadres also killed along with P C Ram. Saraniya was also declared as absconder in the case.
The court, however, imposed certain restrictions on the movement of the ULFA leader. The bail order stated that the accused shall not leave the State without the prior permission of the court and that he shall regularly appear in the court.
